Problem Trying To Format My Hard Drive (slave)
I purchased a Toshiba 1TB USB 3.0 hard drive today. I have a blank IDE Drive that I installed and it wasn't recognized until I went into disk managememnt, put it online, and formatted. Just a suggestion. In the window that comes up, click Disk Management in the left pane. Check This Out

I did a virus scan of the HD before transferring the files. It's a MPE3064AT made in 2000 by Fujitsu. I tried different configurations with the old drive but the only way it would recognize the 80 gig drive was when I plugged it into a USB dongle and mounted it Convert To Dynamic Disk Or you could just get that PSU from the store and see if it fixes your problem. i even tried in disk management.

When I try to boot up the new HD using my Windows boot/installation disk, I get a message that Setup could not find any HD installed on my PC. By the four sentence, you are assuming that everyone reading this will understand what ‘jumpers' are. On the mac, the drive would show up but the partitions would not/could not be mounted. You can get the drivers from the motherboard directly from the manufacturer'e website.
If the hard drive does not show up in BIOS, gather as much information about your PC as you can and write it down. It shouldn't even be looking to the hard drive ?! Until then, you can run on 1GB of RAM, for WinXP it should be enough.Good luck with this project. Good luck!

The reason for this would be that plugging and unplugging the IDE cable repeatedly increases your chances of bending some pins. Do I choose the MBR or the GPT option? it started booting slow then slower after a window 7 update which was attempting to install IE11 which failed repeatedly. I'm at the same point as the person at the top who is getting the message the Volume is in use when trying to format.
