The RAW drive means the file system is corrupted, system can't identify whether it is FAT, NTFS, EXT2 or EXT3, etc. To recover files from RAW drive, please refer to "How to recover raw drive?" for detailed steps. After chkdsk my drive it showed 4kb in bad sector out of 225gb (My hard disk capacity is 500gb ). M3 Data Recovery If you try them yourself, it might cause damage or irreparable loss.
Found this thread very useful so thanks for all the previous comments. There's a drivedb update which worked and an admin program that opens a dos window, but nothing else that seems operational. It just stops working when that limit is reached. I'm going to make use the backup.log, write a new partition table and then see what happens.
