Cannot Get Updates To Work
Boy was I glad to see those updates rolling in. I hope that things were working better after installing a second time. I bought a new drive (250GB Toshiba SATA/600) and installed Windows 7 SP1 from an ISO downloaded from digitalriver.net. As for issue 2, that one just requires you to manually install some specific updates which also isn't mentioned here. This was the only thing that worked!! I have been searching forever and method 2 did the trick!!! Proceed to install them. more info here

He gave it to me to remove malware and viruses but there were so many that I chose to do a clean install of Windows 7. All solutions listed above didn't help to obtain updates while using x64 Windows 7 SP1 Home Basic - really tried them (even twice). In the picture link I've included I decided to just try and install a few updates rather than the full amount, and it's still insisted on saying 0% downloaded for half I looked far and wide for a fix and you nailed it! Be sure to follow all steps and reboot after each one.
