I blame the gremlins. But, we're stuck. Then I do a dir on the regback directory and it is empty. How long will it take? check over here

It's a no-go. I do all the upgrades, and am okay (I suppose it might have installed SP 2 without my knowledge but I doubt it somehow… is that possible Rick?!).
